Originally from the United States, Mr. Charlie graduated from Eastern University with a major in English Literature and earned a teaching qualification from the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. He holds teaching certifications in both the U.S. and the U.K.

Mr. Charlie gained extensive experience teaching and leading teaching teams at International Baccalaureate (IB) certified international schools in Japan, Cambodia, and Oman. Returning to Shinshu, he is now dedicated to inspiring students through interdisciplinary lessons that are driven by their individual inquiries, captivating their interest and fostering engagement.

With a passion for helping students develop literacy skills and the confidence to express themselves, Mr. Charlie strives to create impactful and empowering learning experiences. In addition to his teaching career, he has a wealth of experience in business, including consulting in UX design.

Originally from Norway, Mr. Haakon holds a Master’s degree in Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education from Oslo Metropolitan University. He specialized in English, with minors in science and philosophy. He is passionate about adapted, student-centered teaching that supports diverse learners and aims to create engaging lessons that build confidence, curiosity, and communication skills in the classroom.

With teaching experience in both Norway and Japan, Mr. Haakon recognizes the importance of English as a global lingua franca. He has been teaching in Japan since 2023 supporting English education from elementary to university-level as a supervisor and teacher trainer, training language teachers, developing curriculum materials, and leading professional development workshops.

Originally from the United States, Mr. Cody graduated from Northern Arizona University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Music. As a talented trumpet player, he brings a creative flair to his teaching.

Since coming to Japan in 2008, Mr. Cody has worked at the English language school AtoZ and currently serves as the trainer. He also has teaching experience at Matsumoto University, as well as at elementary schools and kindergartens in Nagano Prefecture.

With a background in psychology, Mr. Cody is known for actively listening to his students and tailoring lessons to meet their individual needs. His thoughtful and personalized approach has earned him a strong reputation as an engaging and empathetic educator.

Ms. Mie also obtained an ECED qualification from the University of Hawaii and holds teaching certifications in both the U.S. and the U.K.

With a rich background in play-based learning and the Reggio Emilia approach, Ms. Mie fosters an environment where children can explore and learn through their own discoveries. She is dedicated to creating a vibrant and creative classroom alongside her students.

Ms. Emiko holds a Teaching License for Elementary School, as well as Teaching Licenses for Middle and High School (Japanese Language).

She has worked as a teacher and supported foreign students in elementary and middle schools in the prefecture. With extensive experience in public education, Ms. Emiko excels in providing personalized instruction tailored to the individual needs of her students, beyond the constraints of grade levels and textbooks.

Her project-based classes, such as those combining poetry and photography, have been featured on national television. Her passion for creative teaching inspires students to look forward to Japanese language lessons, finding joy and excitement in using words.

Originally from Kagoshima, Mr. Mihara graduated from Kyushu Sports College and the Faculty of Physical Education at the International Budo University.

Mr. Mihara has served as a coach for FC USA U-12, Karamassa Katsuura FC U-12, and Tochigi City FC U-25. Currently, he works as a physical coach for the Matsumoto Yamaga FC Youth Academy.

He holds a JFA Class 3 Referee License, a B-License Coaching Qualification, a Physical Fitness C-Class Certification, and a High School Health and Physical Education Teaching License. His high-quality lessons and coaching are widely recognized.

With a balanced approach of discipline and warmth, Mr. Mihara is trusted by both students and parents, dedicated to fostering the physical and mental well-being of his students.
